The warm summer air danced around them as Sophie stood on a beach with Marcus in the southern part of Spain. The water washed up onto shore, soaking their bare feet as they stood holding their shoes so their bare skin could soak into the water. The day had grown so warm that it felt wonderful to feel the cool water from their secluded part of the beach.

It had taken some convincing after they’d been married for Sophie to explain why a trip abroad would do them both some good. She knew how much that Marcus had wanted to travel when he was younger, instead taking to novels to feel the excitement of a broad adventure. And since the constant chatter of the Bon Ton had not stopped after they’d been married, it was a good idea for them to get away for a while till the news settled that the Duke had married his cook.

With Derek left behind to look over the household and Margret settled in her own home with Lord Miller, they had no cares in the world as they set off for Spain. Sophie had always wanted to visit the neighbouring country, and Marcus was willing to visit anywhere as long as it took them far away. And now they stood on a beach, not too far away from their cottage near the ocean.

Sophie had reasoned that there was no one around for miles. They would have to take the horse and buggy into the local village in order to gather their food. It had caused Sophie to laugh much as she watched Marcus try to hitch his own horse. Eventually, Sophie had to show him how to do it.

Since Marcus was so accustomed to having servants, it had taken Sophie some time to explain to Marcus how commoners accomplished things. They were not travelling as Duke and Duchess of Northpeak, but instead as Mr and Mrs Fournier. Sophie knew that it would be easier for them to travel without all their finery and riches. No one would surely bother them if they were just normal people.

“I can’t believe how blue the water is here,” Marcus spoke up as they stood on the beach, the sun setting in the distance.

“Is it more beautiful than any novel you’ve ever read?” Sophie asked with a smirk on her face.

“Yes, my dear,” Marcus agreed with a chuckle. “This makes all the travelling worth it.” Sophie nodded her head, her fingers of her right hand laced with his.

The week and a half at sea had been a challenge for both Sophie and Marcus. Sophie did not like feeling the seasickness once more, and though she swore she’d never sail again, she had done it simply to see Marcus so happy. He seemed almost childlike as he learned all he could about the construction of the packet ship they’d charted for their voyage. He happily spoke with the crew as he learned about how the ship sailed and what was required to keep it in good shape.

In the evenings, they had dined with the captain. And though Sophie was certain she could prepare better fare, she never complained. She knew that many could not cook to her skill level, and she even had to be patient with Bonny and the two assistants they’d hired to help Bonny in the kitchen.

From time to time, Sophie had helped in the kitchen preparing certain dishes not only to teach Bonny, but to ensure dinner would be wonderful for the dinner parties that they hosted. Many of Marcus’ business partners had been curious about Sophie, and after a certain dinner party with his closest acquaintances, it didn’t take long for all of them to realise that Sophie was not from a prestigious family, and not only French, but previously the cook for the Duke’s household. And though some tried to compliment Sophie for her skills in the kitchen during Margret’s debut ball, most were shocked by the news.

Sophie had taken it all with a grain of salt. Some days she’d vent her frustrations by baking the entire day away. The household had plenty on those days to feast upon. But never did she allow the words of others to put her down. She could be angry all she wanted for a time, but she wouldn’t allow herself to feel sad or put down.

As she stood on the edge of the shore with Marcus, she thought that it had all been rather worth it. Now they were together, officially married, and happier than she could have ever imagined.

“I think it is time for us to return to the cottage, my dear. It will grow dark soon, and I am not familiar with the path. I don’t want to get lost in the dark,” Marcus said, pulling Sophie’s eyes from the water.

“I suppose you are right,” Sophie agreed as she allowed Marcus to lead her back to the cottage at a leisurely pace. Neither one of them bothered with putting back on their shoes. Once they returned to the cottage, Sophie gathered clean clothes for them to wet and wash their feet before putting on their house slippers.

“Though it is small, I do like the space,” Marcus observed of the cottage. They’d spent two days thus far in the cottage, and Sophie found his comment very amusing.

“That is because it is just the two of us. There is no one here to look in on us or discover us if we decide to walk around the place naked,” Sophie said with a giggle. After she had her slippers on, she went to the modest kitchen in the corner and began to prepare them a chowder soup to go along with the fresh bread she baked that morning. Since they were on the sea, Sophie had been able to get fresh seafood from the market that morning and eagerly looked forward to the delicious and creamy dish she would make with the many different kinds of shellfish.

“I very much like the idea of you walking around naked. Reminds me of this morning,” Marcus said as he came up behind his wife and wrapped his arm around her middle as he pressed his hips into her buttocks, showing her how excited the idea made him.

“Calm yourself, Marcus,” Sophie said with a chuckle. “I want to eat first before we get naked again.”

Even after being married for several months, Marcus’ ardour had never slackened. Sometimes they even made love three times a day when they were up to the task. With Margret now in her own household, and Derek frequenting different places around Town as he freely explored, Marcus and Sophie found ample time for lovemaking.

“Fine, let us eat first,” Marcus said in mock displeasure as he leaned down and kissed the nape of her neck as she stirred the chowder on the stove. Sophie moaned as he did so, leaned against him as she ideally stirred the soup.

“Be gone with you, tempter,” Sophie said as she eventually shoved him away, not wanting to burn the chowder.

“Fine. I shall set the table then,” Marcus said as he gathered the silverware and napkins.

“My goodness, how humble of you, Duke of Northpeak, to be setting the table for a common woman such as myself,” Sophie said in a mocking voice as she tried her best not to laugh.

“Oh, my dear. You are anything but common,” he said in a husky voice, winking at her as he did so.

Sophie chuckled as she turned her attention back to the chowder. Once it was finished and all the ingredients had been cooked thoroughly, to include the potatoes, corn, and shellfish, Sophie ladled two bowls and set them on the small table. Then she brought the fresh bread over and began to slice it for them to enjoy.

“What a lovely dinner, Sophie. Thank you,” Marcus said before he took a bite. As he enjoyed the food, he hummed with pleasure as he closed his eyes.

“You’re very welcome, Marcus,” Sophie said with a chuckle, glad to see that her husband was enjoying the food she had made. Marcus always complimented Sophie on her cooking, but to see him actually sigh with pleasure filled Sophie with much pride.

Together they ate, talking about the sights of the local area that they were interested in seeing in the morning. There were several castles this far south that Marcus mentioned might be enjoyable to view. Sophie was more interested in the local cuisine and spices that she hoped to bring back to England. They were able to compromise on seeing the castle in the morning and seeing if there was a tavern or inn in the local village where they could enjoy a local meal.

When dinner had been cleaned up after and everything put away, Marcus took Sophie by the hand and led her down the narrow hallway to the bedchamber. It was just as quaint as the rest of the cottage. White floral wallpaper lined the walls with matching curtains over the window. Though the floor was bare stone, the bed promised many creature comforts. Though not as large as their bed back in Town, the bed did have many plush pillows and several layers of blankets that helped keep them warm at night. But as Marcus shut the door behind them, Sophie knew that she wouldn’t need blankets to keep her warm tonight.

Marcus was upon her in a matter of moments as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to lock their lips together. Their lovemaking had always been very passionate, and tonight seemed to be much of the same. Their tongues danced together as they tasted of chowder and red wine. It was an exotic flavour that Sophie loved tasting on her husband.

As Marcus’ strong arm lifted her onto the bed, Sophie went willingly. She lifted her legs and parted them as Marcus leaned over her, deepening their kiss. Sophie always loved the way her husband felt on top of her. And though for the most part Sophie allowed Marcus to set the pace of their lovemaking, from time to time, Sophie enjoyed picking and choosing. Tonight seemed to be one of those nights as Sophie encouraged Marcus to come up onto the bed so she could roll on top of him.

“Why hello there, Lady Kingston,” Marcus said with a smirk as Sophie started to undo the buttons of his vest. Then, she pulled his muslin shirt out of his trousers till she could run her fingers over his bare skin, causing him to moan with pleasure.

“Why, good evening, Lord Kingston,” Sophie replied as she helped him out of his clothes before allowing him to do the same for her. Once they had bared themselves to one another, Sophie leaned down and started planting kisses on Marcus’ bare chest, loving the feeling of heat radiating from him as his ardour quickly rose. She felt the twitching eagerness of his member between her legs, and she couldn’t help laughing at the feeling.

“What is so funny, my love?” Marcus asked as he looked down at Sophie. She smiled up at him as she leaned back and grabbed a hold of his member.

“He is so eager,” Sophie said in a seductive voice as she slowly stroked him.

“That’s because he knows just how good you feel,” Marcus replied as he started to pant from the way she was pleasuring him. Then, Sophie lowered herself over Marcus’ body, causing him to gasp with surprise when Sophie took the head of his member into her mouth.

“My goodness, Sophie. You don’t need to do that,” Marcus said as he breathed heavily. He never imagined that she would be willing to do something like that to him.

“Why not, Marcus?” she asked as she raised her head up. “Perhaps I will enjoy it.” She then went back to taking him into her mouth, letting her tongue slide down his entire length. Marcus raised his hips slightly, moaning as Sophie pleasured him with her mouth. It was apparent to Sophie that he was enjoying what she was doing with her mouth and planned to bring him to his release in this manner.

Marcus ran his fingers through her hair, encouraging her to take more of his member into her mouth. It didn’t take long before his member was probing the back of Sophie’s mouth, and not being able to take much more, Sophie pulled her mouth off of him.

“Oh, Sophie, that was wonderful,” Marcus breathed with a sigh of relief.

“I’m glad you think so,” Sophie said as she laid down beside him. “Now I want you to do the same to me.” She giggled as Marcus arched an eyebrow at her.

“Is that an order, Duchess?” Marcus asked with a smirk on his face.

“Yes, it is,” Sophie said in a seductive voice. Sophie knew that Marcus could not deny her much, and as he moved till he was settled in-between her legs, Sophie watched with anticipation as his face neared her most sensitive parts.

When Marcus’ tongue came in contact with her sensitive nub, Sophie sighed with pleasure. She raised her hips slowly, wanting to feel more of his mouth on her. His tongue was so hot and wet that she was certain she had died and gone to heaven from the waves of pleasure he was causing to flow through her body. She placed a hand on his head, keeping him in that position as he lapped and sucked on her sensitive nub.

Then, when she felt Marcus raise his hand and press two fingers to her wet opening, she spread her legs wide in anticipation. He slowly eased them past her wet lips, spreading her wide as he went. Sophie moaned freely knowing that no one could hear her. She raised her hips more, giving him better access as he sank his fingers deep inside of her till his knuckles disappeared. Then, he started a slow rhythm of pumping his fingers in and out of her hot centre, filling the room with the scent of their lovemaking.

“Oh, Marcus. You’re going to cause me to release quicker than I would like,” Sophie said between long moans. She knew she wouldn’t be able to last much longer if he kept sucking on her sensitive nub. He leaned up then and chuckled as he removed his fingers.

“It appears you were enjoying yourself, my dear,” he said in a husky voice as he leaned up over her, planting kisses on her stomach before reaching her breasts and tracing circles around her nipple before pulling it into his mouth.

“Oh, Marcus! Yes!” Sophie moaned as she felt his member pressing against her core. She couldn’t wait to feel him deep inside of her, but as she parted her wet lips with her fingers so that he could slide deep inside of her, Marcus pulled back and pushed his hips away from hers.

“I think someone is not in the correct position,” Marcus said as he used his hands to roll her onto her stomach.

“Are you wanting to be naughty, Marcus?” Sophie asked with a giggle as she positioned herself onto all fours.

“I want to make you yell with pleasure,” Marcus replied in a low voice that was filled with lust and admiration. Sophie’s body was filled with excitement and anticipation as Marcus positioned himself behind her. She felt the head of his member pressing upon her wet opening, and she pressed her hips back in hopes that he would soon enter her.

As the head of Marcus’ member slipped past her wet lips, Sophie moaned as Marcus placed his hands on either side of her hips. Then, he pulled her hips back onto his member, causing her wet core to stretch from the thickness of him. He used her hips to set a steady pace until her hot core loosened enough to where he could fill her completely with his long length.

With this being Sophie’s favourite position, she knew she wouldn’t last long. She enjoyed the way Marcus controlled her completely and filled her core with his entire length. As the pace quickened, the sound of smacking flesh soon filled the air as her buttocks smacked against his hips as he thrust his member deep inside of Sophie.

Sophie was crying out in pleasure as her breasts swung freely. The sound of the bed creaking from their lovemaking filled the cottage as their moans crashed together. Marcus’ hands gripped tightly onto Sophie’s hips as he started to thrust wildly into Sophie. She never imagined that lovemaking could feel this amazing or make her feel quite like an animal. Their passion was fierce and powerful as they worked hard to cause each other’s release.

As Sophie started to feel her release building and crashing over her, her core spasming hard over Marcus’ member, she bucked her hips wildly until Marcus was releasing deep inside of her. He moaned loudly as he held her body to him, his seed filling her core as it twitched inside of her.

They were both panting hard when they finally pulled apart and laid beside one another on the bed. A light breeze came in from the window, causing the curtains to rise into the breeze. The cool air felt lovely on Sophie’s skin. She pulled Marcus’ hand onto her stomach as they both tried to catch their breaths.

“It seems we will have a new addition come spring,” Sophie said with a smile. A small bump could be felt on Sophie’s stomach as she let Marcus’ hand graze it.

“Are you sure?” Marcus asked as he raised himself up onto his elbow and looked down at her stomach with surprise. He smiled as he moved his eyes from her stomach to her eyes.

“I’m quite certain, my dear,” Sophie confirmed.

“Then I shall be counting the days till this little one appears,” Marcus said happily.

“Oh, Marcus. I do so love you,” Sophie exclaimed, beyond happy that she could share this joyous occasion with him.

“And I do love you, too,” Marcus said softly before placing a soft kiss to her forehead.

Marcus was a kind man with the love and loyalty to his sister and selflessly put her happiness ahead of his own! Look forward to the next adventure you take us on!

  1. I loved the storyline and characters. A very good book written by a talented writer. Keep them coming and thank you for a day of reading pleasure

  2. This is another great plot, which is beautifully written, and has some intriguing characters. The extended epilogue as always finishes the story brilliantly. Look forward to the next one

  3. A good story, though I thought there were some oddities, such as Sophie asks the Duke about Ferguson’s character when asked out and is told it’s good. The Duke later tells his sister the solicitor is broke and struggling. Despite a few of these I still enjoyed it.

  4. The measures that Sophie had to go to just to practice her cooking arts made for a great foundation to this story. The problems that Marcus and his sister had to go through made for a great read. Thank you for a well written book
    ,

  5. Enjoyable read. Glad unscrupulous trusted solicitor was thwarted and received justice while main characters enjoyed their HEA.

  6. Another great story line I have enjoyed reading. I’m glad the evil Mr Ferguson plans was discovered and he got the sentence he deserved. I’m glad Marcus and Sophie had their happy ever after and also that Margaret found hers. I was a bit confused over the position Derek had in the family. Was he a stable boy or more as he was looking after the household when the Duke and Duchess was away in Italy. However a nice story with nice kind characters. I’m look forward to your next book. Thank you

  7. I did enjoy the story but I felt it was not your best . I have enjoyed all of your stories but not this one so much but I will look forward to your next one Norah

  8. Sophie was trained by her father, “Famous French Chef”. taught her all she could take in & with working with him she became a Chef herself. After the war was over things in France was a miss. Sophie had to leave and leave her brother there. The title was about a “a Double Identity Lady”. However, I haven’t been able to find.
I had to stay up till 2:30am to finish. Not your best work but I still liked it.
    RC.

  9. The story of Sophie and Marcus was very different storyline a French Chef and a Duke loved the story there were a few bad people in it there had setbacks loved the story very much I would give 5 stars couldn’t put down had to read to the end of the book love the Extended Epilogue also all others characters in the book were excellent as well if you love a good Romantic story read this book.

  10. WONDERFUL STORY of a duke and a commoner. But the title was a little deceiving. I thought she would end up being a French aristocrat!

  11. Loved how the love developed between Marcus and Sophie. Great story. Would loved to read more about Derek.

  12. What a delightful book. And the cooking! My taste buds are still salivating at the thought of orange tarts. Oh, my! The love story and intrigue were straight to the plot. Loved it.

  13. Such a great story. It shows that love knows not the boundaries of class. Sophie was brave and talented, Marcus humble and kind, and the bad guy was mean and hateful. Which all adds up to a wonderful book. I read it in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down.

  14. Please email me if you would like to learn of a couple of typos. But they certainly do not distract from a marvelous book!

  15. This was such a sweet story line with great characters. There were some words that didn’t make sense and a few grammatical errors but still delightful. I was disappointed with the extended epilogue. It was just a love making scene with not much meaning. I would rather it give us more information about what happened in the future.

  16. The story line was interesting but the proofreading was missing. Please explain all the smirking going on in your stories – are all your characters so sarcastic that they need to smirk all the time? That said, I do enjoy your stories.

    1. Thank you for your honest feedback, my dear Rose! It helps me get better!

I’m sorry if you found this element of repetition, I will be taking it into consideration!

Your support means the world to me!

      Have a lovely day!
